Media Kampung – 09 April 2026 | Police from Metro Jaya conducted a formal examination of the driver of a Nissan Grand Livina after the vehicle collided with two Toyota Innova on the Ir. Wiyoto Wiyono toll road near the Pluit exit.

The driver, identified as 28‑year‑old Mishael Widjaja, appeared together with his legal counsel at the Sub‑directorate of Public Order and Traffic (Gakkum) for an initial interview on 8 April 2026.

According to the Sub‑directorate chief AKBP Ojo Ruslani, the interview aimed to gather the driver’s account of the incident that caused a temporary traffic jam on the tollway.

Widjaja stated that the collision occurred on Friday, 3 April 2026 at about 14.30 WIB while he was travelling in the first lane and attempted to shift to the second lane before the Pluit exit.

He explained that two Innova vehicles were positioned ahead and behind him – a silver Innova (license plate B 1856 URB) in front and a gray Innova (B 1188 IP) at the rear.

When Widjaja tried to change lane, the rear Innova sounded a prolonged horn, forcing him to remain in the original lane.

The front silver Innova continued to press close to his Livina, causing the two cars to rub against each other despite his attempt to overtake.

The friction escalated into a brief chase, after which Widjaja’s vehicle was forced to stop abruptly before the Kemayoran toll exit.

At the forced stop, the driver of the silver Innova alighted, attempted to seize the Livina’s key and verbally abused Widjaja.

Two occupants from the gray Innova – one male and one female – also approached the scene; the male observed while the female tried to intervene.

The confrontation lasted several minutes, after which the Innova driver demanded a compensation of Rp 2 million.

Widjaja initially offered Rp 1 million, but the demand was rejected and he later transferred the full Rp 2 million to a bank account provided by the Innova driver.

Ojo Ruslani confirmed that the police are still searching for both Innova vehicles to obtain their statements and verify their involvement.

The investigation also focuses on whether the two Innova drivers acted in coordination or if the incident was a spontaneous traffic dispute.

Police records indicate that the silver Innova was the vehicle that repeatedly edged the Livina, while the gray Innova’s horn prevented the lane change.

Witnesses on the toll reported that the Livina’s speed increased after the initial contact, but the driver was unable to regain normal flow due to the continued pressure from the front vehicle.

The forced stop caused a short‑term blockage of the toll, which was cleared after the vehicles were separated and traffic resumed.

The Sub‑directorate’s statement noted that the driver’s legal counsel was present to ensure procedural rights during the questioning.

No injuries were reported among the occupants of the three vehicles, and all parties were able to continue their journeys after the incident.

The police have not yet determined whether the demand for money constitutes extortion or a settlement for vehicle damage.

Ojo emphasized that the case will be examined under traffic law and criminal provisions if evidence of coercion emerges.

The incident gained widespread attention on social media after video footage showing the close‑up contact and the subsequent argument was shared online.

Public reaction highlighted concerns about aggressive driving behavior on toll roads and the risk of escalation into personal disputes.

Authorities reiterated that drivers must maintain safe distances and avoid confrontational actions that can endanger other road users.

The investigation remains open, and the police have urged any additional witnesses to come forward with information.

As of now, the two Innova vehicles have not been located, and the case is expected to proceed to formal charges if sufficient evidence is gathered.

The incident serves as a reminder that traffic conflicts can quickly turn into legal matters when demands for compensation are made on the spot.
