Media Kampung, Singapore – Malaysia‑Singapore relations remain pivotal as both countries seek stronger economic and people‑to‑people links amid a turbulent global backdrop, according to Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin.
Speaking at the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day reception, Anizan highlighted the shared interest of the two neighbours in upholding international law, sovereignty and freedom of navigation. She welcomed Singapore’s upcoming ASEAN chairmanship in 2027, noting it will build on the collaborative work led by the Philippines this year.
Key projects slated for the next decade include the deployment of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, the continued development of the Johor‑Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS‑SEZ), and broader economic integration through trade and investment facilitation.
Singapore’s Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the partnership is fundamentally about the people and that both sides have much to learn from each other.
