**Media Kampung** – Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo has been appointed as the head coach of Ecuador’s senior national football team, succeeding Sebastian Beccacece after the latter’s contract was not renewed following Ecuador’s round‑of‑32 exit at the 2026 World Cup.
Gallardo, 50, left his second spell at River Plate in February 2026. During his first tenure with the Buenos Aires club he amassed 14 trophies, including two Copa Libertadores titles, one Copa Sudamericana and several domestic championships. His most notable achievements are:
