Media Kampung – 03 April 2026 | BMKG issued an early warning for heavy rain across several Indonesian regions on Thursday 2 April 2026, highlighting the risk of intense rainfall, lightning and strong winds.
In the capital region, the agency flagged Kabupaten Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and all districts of DKI Jakarta from 16:25 to 18:30 WIB, urging residents to avoid standing under trees or billboards.
Radar data showed thick cloud cover advancing from the western periphery, with precipitation rates expected to reach moderate to heavy levels, potentially causing flash floods.
Yuyun Wulandari, a forecaster at BMKG, emphasized that the situation could expand rapidly, urging heightened preparedness especially in zones with historically poor drainage.
Apart from the Jabodetabek cluster, the agency listed Sumatra Utara, Jawa Tengah, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Kalimantan Barat, and Sulawesi Barat as areas where rain could intensify to very heavy.
Specific towns such as Padang, Bengkulu, Bandar Lampung, Yogyakarta, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin were warned about concurrent thunderstorms.
Moderate rainfall was projected for Bandung and Tanjung Selor, while light showers could affect Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Serang, Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, and Samarinda.
The western part of the archipelago, including Banda Aceh, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, and Pontianak, is expected to experience dense overcast, with Palembang facing hazy conditions.
In the eastern regions, Makassar and Mamuju may encounter moderate rain, whereas Denpasar, Mataram, Kendari, Palu, Gorontalo, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayawijaya, and Merauke could see light precipitation.
High cloud cover or thick clouds are forecasted for Kupang, Manado, Ternate, Ambon, and Jayapura; Sorong may experience smoke or fog due to forest‑fire activity.
BMKG reminded the public that forecasts are subject to change and urged continuous monitoring through the official website, mobile application, and Info BMKG social‑media channels.
Authorities in Jakarta have already deployed traffic‑management teams to clear potential water‑logged roads and advise commuters to seek alternative routes during peak hours.
The agency concluded that while the heavy rain is expected to subside by 18:30 WIB, residents should remain vigilant until conditions normalize.
